Gavel. At the first session of the Classis, May 21-24, 1931, the newly elected President, Rev. W. C. Lyerly, presented to the body, through the stated clerk, a gavel made of wood from the house owned and occupied by Elder Adam Roseman, Esq., at the time he was a delegate to the organization meeting one hundred years ago. Our president is a direct descendant, great grandson, of the Elder Roseman. Given to the Historical Society of the Southern Synod in November 1961 by Mrs. Lyerly.
