Biographical / Historical

The Lewisville Charge included: St. Peter Evangelical Church, Lewisville; St. Peter Evangelical Church, Miltonsburg; and St. John's Evangelical Church, Summit Township (Middle Church). St. Peter Evangelical Church, Miltonsburg, was organized as a mission church in 1833. It became a member of the Evangelical Synod in 1857. St. Peter, Lewisville, was organized as a mission church in 1846 and was part of the Woodsfield Charge. St. John Reformed Church, Summit Township, was organized as a mission church in 1838 and shared a pastor with St. Peter, Miltonsburg. In 1929, the three churches petitioned Synod for a realignment and on January 1, 1930, were united into the Lewisville Charge. The Lewisville Charge was in turn part of the Pioneer Larger Parish of Monroe County. On September 2, 1962, the churches voted to unite into one congregation, taking the name Trinity United Church of Christ, as of January 1963.
