Biographical / Historical

Though the title page of the original record book calls this church Evangelischen Lutherischen St. Johannes Gemeinde, further research into its history indicates that it was established by the Evangelcial Synod of North America. St. John's Evangelical Church of Sharpsburg should not be confused with St. John's Reformed Church of East Sharpsburg. In 1996, St. John's dissolved the relationship with Mt. Troy Church. The church later disbanded in 1999. Pastors who served include: 1888-1893 J. H. Helmkamp 1894-1900 H. W. Schild 1901-1902 F. Balzer 1902-1904 A Juergens 1904-1907 G. Kienle 1907-1938 W. A.
