Biographical / Historical
St. Lucas Church was founded in 1889 and quickly grew in number. The congregation was organized at the Free Methodist Church. The 21 members were all formerly affiliated with the Zion Church. Then construction of the church began later that same year. The church building was dedicated on April 20, 1890. Construction of the first parsonage its dedication followed on June 16, 1895. The first parish house was dedicated on October 27, 1907. In 1935 the chancel was remodeled and an addition was put on the North end of the church. The south wing was constructed and dedicated on January 7, 1940. Then, the sanctuary was remodeled and dedicated on April 22, 1956.
