Biographical / Historical

The desire for all services to be held in English and the increasing membership of First (Tabor) Reformed Church led to the founding of St. John's German Reformed Church, which was consecrated on October 18, 1860. Major renovations, which changed the foyer and sanctuary, took place in 1889-1891, and stained glass windows were added. In 1931, a social hall was built, and it was enlarged in 1984. In 1974, the church was placed on the Pennsylvania Inventory of Historic Places. This church closed in 2020.
