Biographical / Historical
The first church was established in 1763 with Rev. Dr. Weyberg (March to December 1763) having pastoral charge of Plainfield, Easton, Dryland and Greenwich NJ. The second church building was built of logs in 1805 under pastorate of Rev. Thomas Pomp (1796-1848). The third church, St. Peter's Church, was a union church (Reformed and Lutheran) built in 1832 of bricks. The Reformed pastor was Rev. Thomas Pomp and the Lutheran pastor was Rev. J.A. Probst. In 1793, the charge changed to be composed of Easton, Plainfield, Dryland, and Mt. Bethel with Rev. Christian Ludwig Becker (1793-1795) as pastor. In 1808, Mt. Bethel was removed from the charge and Lower Saucon was added. Other pastors included Rev. Frederick Henop 1766-1769; Rev. Mr. Pithan 1769-1771; John Wm. Weber 1771-1777; Rev.
