Biographical / Historical
In 1885, St. Mark's Sunday School was organized by Rev. F.W. Kremer and sixty-five adult members. St. Mark's Reformed Church was constituted in 1887 and Rev. Oscar P. Steckel (1887-1892) became the pastor. Subsequent pastors were Rev. I Calvin Fisher (1892-1932), Rev. Henry J. Herber (1933-1952), Rev. Ralph D. Althouse (1952-1963), Rev. George Shultz, Jr. (1964), REv. Howard Schley Fox (1966-1971). In 1934, the church became an Evangelical Reformed Church and in 1957, a congregation of the United Church of Christ. In 1968, the Christian Education Building replaced the original chapel and parsonage. In 1973, the sanctuary was renovated and the narthex was added.
