The Salem Reformed Church collection consists of one box containing BULLETINS 1908, 1910, 1919, 1949, 1963, 1973, 1983, HISTORY, LEGAL AND BUSINESS RECORDS (ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT ON SALE OF REAL ESTATE 1946), NEWSLETTERS 1973, PASTORS, PHOTOGRAPHS, PROGRAM AND ACTIVITIES. Biographical / Historical

The church was organized as a union church (Lutheran and Reformed) in 1831, and the first church building was erected and dedicated in 1832. The Reformed congregation became regularly organized in 1843. In 1900, the Lutherans built their own church thus dissolving the union relationship. Pastors: Peter Sweigert 1843-1846, E. Reinecke 1848-1849, Herman Rust 1850-1851, Joel Reber 1851-1854, John W. Hoffmeier 1856-1862, I.E. Graeff 1862-1867, L.D. Steckel 1867-1868, A.B. Shenkle 1869-1878, J.P. Moore 1878-1883, John Philip Stein 1884-1892, B. Howard Roth 1893-1900, Tilghman Derr 1901-1915, A.F. Rentz 1915. Susan C. Kready and Lizzie C. Kready were major financial contributors to the church.
