Biographical / Historical

In 1807, uniting with the Lutherans, a one story log house on the south side of Mahoning street was purchased for school and church purposes. The Rev. Henry Justice Fries ministered to the German Reformed Congregation.

In 1817 the Reformed, Lutheran and Presbyterian congregations united in building "Harmony" church, located at the foot of the hill at the eastern end of Mahoning Street.

In 1831 the Presbyterian Congregation withdrew and in 1850 the Lutheran congregation withdrew leaving the Reformed congregation in sole possession until 1866. In 1866 a new church was erected.

May 4th 1880 the great fire destroyed all the churches in Milton except for the Episcopal church.

October 5th, 1817 the German Reformed Church of Milton was organized. The corner stone of "Harmony" Church was laid on this date.

This church closed in 2020.
