Biographical / Historical
Trinity Reformed Church grew from a Sunday School which began to meet in the Greenfield Union Schoolhouse in 1915. This new congregation organized by Rev. C. Albright began meeting in a tent for the summer of 1916 under the name Memorial Reformed Church which was enrolled by the Board of Home Missions of the Reformed Church of the United States. The ladies of the church collected enough money to purchase a lot on the Charleston and Penrose Avenues in Detroit on which a frame structure was erected called the tabernacle. In January 1917 Rev. Frederick W. Bald became pastor. The congregation and Sunday School grew rapidly and in 1919 they built a new church. Extensions were erected to accommodate the Sunday School an office, a parlor and a gymnasium in 1928. By 1939 the church had 400 members with 14 auxiliary organizations supporting church activities. Pastors; Rev. Fred W. Kratz Rev. Theo. C. Wiemer Rev. Arthur Habermehl
