Ridge Valley Reformed Church (Argus, PA)

Ridge Valley U.C.C. 905 Allentown Road Sellersville, PA 18960 Bucks County PA The Land was given to the Lutheran and Reformed Calvinist Societies in 1792 from Henry Guittleman, which was received from Richard Penn, William's son. In 1854 a building was fully consecrated to house the congregations of the Reformed, the Lutheran and the Mennonites. Rev. Horace Daniel served as the Reformed Pastor until 1858. The Lutheran congregation built their own church across the street in 1898. the Reformed Church continued to grow requiring remodeling in 1901 and again in 1948. In 1957 the church merged with the Congregational Christian Church to become the United Church of Christ. A succession of ministers proceeded a take-over of the building by a non-denominational baptist group in 1972 that withdrew from the UCC. Long standing members were forced out and continued to worship in the Lutheran Church across the the street until the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas ruling in 1984 that handed the church back to the ousted members and continued to operate as a United Church of Christ.
