Biographical / Historical

Born November 4, 1875 in Manatawny, Pennsylvania. Died May 1, 1967 in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. Licensed June 10, 1908 in Hamlin, Pennsylvania as part of the German Phila. Classis. Ordained July 27, 1908 in York County, Pennsylvania, Gettysburg Classis by Rev. S.P. Mauger. Parents were William Y. Brumbach and Elizabeth (Lechner) Brumbach. He had four brothers and one sister. Married May 28, 1904 to Gertrude F. Dierolf, they had one child, Paul. D., born May 7, 1910. Pastorates included Lischey's Reformed Charge, Spring Grove, Pennsylvania (1908-1913) and Grimville Charge (1913-1954). He attended Keystone State Normal School, forerunner of Kutztown State College. He taught school for eight years before studying for the ministry. He graduated from and Central Theological Seminary, Tiffin, Ohio, in 1908. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference of the United Church of Christ and the Kutztown Ministerial Association. He was a member of St. Paul's UCC and of the Senior Citizens Club both in Kutztown. He retired in 1954, and was named pastor emeritus of New Bethel Zion UCC Church, Grimville.
