Biographical / Historical
Thomas Arnold Huber was born on August 25, 1844, in Springfield Township, Berks County, PA. He was the son of Elias and Susannah Huber. When he was eighteen years old he moved to South Bethlehem PA. From there he went to Lancaster PA were he entered Franklin and Marshall College and graduated in 1874. He entered the Lancaster Theological Seminary where he graduated in 1876. He was licensed by the Eastern Pennsylvania Classis in May 1876, and ordained in June of 1876. He enlisted in the Army at 19 years of age but became disabled shortly afterward. He received an honorable discharge before engaging in battle. Thomas Huber was pastor of the Brodheadsville PA. charge from 1876 until 1886. That charge consisted of four churches. From 1816 until 1889 he was the pastor of the Bangor Charge. He then became pastor of the Towamensing charge in Weissport PA until 1892. The last church in which he became the pastor was Grace Church in Hazelton PA. He married the former Maria Naylor and their first child died at childbirth. They had a son named Harvey who died at the age of nine and a daughter named Eva Amy. In 1896 he retired and moved back to South Bethlehem where he spent the rest of his years physically disabled.. He died at his home on July 22, 1904 and was buried in the cemetery at Stone Church near Kreidersville PA.
