Biographical / Historical

Rev. Moyer was born May 26, 1879 in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, to Jonas and Cecelia (Troxell) Moyer. He attended Catasauqua High School, class of 1895. He attended Business College and Muhlenberg Preparatory School in 1896, then taught school two terms in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He graduated in honor group from Muhlenberg College, 1902 and in 1905 from the Theological Seminary in Lancaster. He was licensed by East Pennsylvania Classis in 1905, was ordained and installed as Pastor of the Friedensburg Charge, Schuylkill Classis, June 1905, at Friedensburg, Pennsylvania where he served 15 months. In September 1906, he began a pastorate at Tohickon Charge and remained ther until his retirement in July of 1949. He was installed at Keelersville, October, 1906. For 14 years he was a supply pastor of the Hatfield Charge, and served on the Board of Directors of Perkasie Schools. He was also Chaplain of Perkasie Fire Company No. 1; Chaplain of Bucks County Firemens' Association; President of Bucks County Sabbath School Association; President of Perkasie Building and Loan Association; and Director in Perkasie Trust Company. He married Elizabeth Lichtenwalner on June29, 1905.
