The Amandus S. Leiby collection contains two boxes consisting of: various documents and records (1936-1958); records of Baptisms 1798 -1805; photoststs from the Leiby Collection; sermons (1918-1959); geneology; correspondence (1936-1939) and a photograph.

Biographical / Historical

Amandus S. Leiby was born in Klinesville, Berks County Pennsylvania on June 1, 1883. His father's name was Solomon Willoughby Leiby and his mother's name was Elizabeth Sherer Leiby. He attended Ursinus College for two years and Graduated from the Central Seminary, Dayton, Ohio in 1911. He was licensed on May 2, 1911 in Lawrenceville, Ohio, Miami Classis, Ohio Synod. He was ordained in Bernville Pennsylvania on June 4, 1911. He served in the Reformed Church of Bernville-Straustown church, Berks County Charge, Pennsylvania from 1911-1918. He served in the Reformed Salem Church, Catasauqua, Pennsylvania from 1918-1921. He served in the Reformed First Church in Spring City, Pennsylvania from 1921-1925. From 1926-1936 he served at St. Peter's Church, Easton, Pennsylvania which became a Evangelical and Reformed church after 1934. The last church he served at was the Evangelical and Reformed Church of the Plainfeild Charge, Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania from 1936-1956. He married Lola Alberta Butler of Bernville, Pennsylvania, and had two sons, Stanley B. Leiby and Francis A. Leiby. He died on May 22, 1965 in Easton Pennsylvania.
