Biographical / Historical
George Albert Erhgood was born on August 12, 1892 in Gibralter, PA. His father's name was Jacob and he married Mary Quinter. He was married to Sue Griffith on June 1, 1915 and he had two sons. He graduated from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1915 and shortly afterward was licensed by the Lebanon Classis of the former Reformed Church, ordained by Juniata Classis in Hollidaysburg. He served at St. Johns Reformed Church in Hollidaysburg and Trinity Reformed Church in Williamsburg from 1915-1922. He had a leave of absence and served 1918-1919 in France as an Army Chaplin. Rev. Dr. Ehrgood was professor of Greek and New Testament at Atlanta Theological Seminary, Atlanta, Georgia and professor of Church History and World History at Oglethorpe University. It was from this University that he received his Doctor of Laws degree. From 1938-1965 he served as Supply Pastor of Epler's, Leesport; First Church, Wernersville and Trinity, Rehrersburg, Rev. George Ehrgood was a Mason in the Union Lodge No. 479 in Birdsboro, PA. He died on December 17. 1969 in Reading PA.
