Biographical / Historical
Arthur Henry Wegener was born in Holstein, MO, August 8, 1898, a son of August F. and Martha Hackmann Wegener. He was a graduate of Elmhurst Pro Seminary, Class of 1921 and Eden Theological Seminary, Class of 1924. He was ordained June 1, 1924 at Immanuel Evangelical Church, Holstein. He served the following churches as pastor: St. Paul, Marshfield, and St. John, Colby, WI (1924-1926); St. Thomas, Gumbo, MO (1926-1928 and 1964-1967); St. Paul, Staunton, IL (1928-1938); Bethel, Freelandville, IN (1938-1951); Trinity, Lexington, MO (1951-1955); Oakfield, Pacific, MO (1967-1974). He served as Secretary and President of South Indiana Synod of the Evangelical & Reformed Church. From 1955 to 1963 he was the first full-time President of Kansas City Synod. He was a seven-time delegate to General Synod and served on the United Church Board for World Ministries. He was married August 23, 1925 to Iora Paul. They had two daughters: Mrs. Colleen (the Rev. Donald) Hafner and Mrs. Darlene (the Rev. Ronald) Christiansen. Source: Funeral program.
