Biographical / Historical
Louis C. Hessert was born February 4, 1881 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was the son of Bernhardt and Margaret (Schneider) Hessert. He graduated from Mission House College in 1903 and Mission House Seminary in 1906. On June 10, 1906 he was both licensed and ordained by Zion's Classis of Northwest Synod in Decatur, Indiana. His pastorates included Zion's Reformed Church, Decatur, 1906-1915 and Calvary Reformed Church, Crestline, Ohio, 1915-1924. He then completed post-graduate work at Central and Princeton Seminaries and was called to the chair of Systematic Theology at Mission House Seminary. He held that position until his retirement, and also taught psychology at Mission House College. He was married to Clara Victoria Ruf on June 13, 1906 and had four children. He died May 28, 1956 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
