Biographical / Historical

Planning for the Northeast Evangelical and Reformed Church began with a small group of individuals in 1959. The Steering Committee purchased a parsonage and extended a call to Rev. Carl Basinger on November 12, 1959. The first worship service was held in the garage of the parsonage on January 31, 1960 with 27 members being present. The first Holy Communinion was served on April 14, 1960, and the first Confirmation Class was received into the church on January 29, 1961.

The church was officially chartered on May 7, 1961. The purchase price of the church site was $20,000, the parsonage and site was $16,400, and the cost of the church building was $34,000.

The church was located at 3620 N. Franklin Road, Indianapolis, IN, 46226.

The final worship service was on November 26, 2006.
